“Where am I from? – An everlasting question for yourself?”

Start: 19.30

“Where are you from?”
For some persons, it is the easiest question in the world. For others, it means confusion, anger, conflicts. If you have a story to tell when people ask you where you are from, then this talk might be in your interest.
Nowadays, it is not easy to provide a clear “categorical” answer to this question.

The world has changed.

We are constantly switching between cultures, travelling, living in other countries, marrying partners from other countries, nevertheless, the way how we think about who we are culturally remains rigid and stiff.

This interactive talk with audience activities and short interview is a proposal for a different perspective on how we can culturally perceive ourselves and others through the concept of transculturality.
Let’s discuss it!

Rayane grew up in Algeria and Germany and lived several years in Spain. Daughter of a mixed German-Algerian marriage, she experienced the imaginative cultural borders at a young age.

In her blog and speeches, she describes ways about how we can totally accept our pluri-culturality with the help of the concept of transculturality and defend it without having to fall into a categorisation.

This event is free to attend and open to all. We would kindly suggest donations for our speakers for their time and labour – we look forward to seeing you there! Please support our space by ordering a drink or two!
