“Nonhuman Nonsense: Speculative Dream”
Start: 19.30
Please join us in welcoming Leo Fidjeland and Linnea Våglund to be’kech, where they will discuss their work on near-future fictions and experiments that lie somewhere between utopia and dystopia.
· ABOUT ·
“Nonhuman Nonsense is a research-driven design duo working at the intersection of art, science, philosophy and technology, consisting of Leo Fidjeland and Linnea Våglund. Recent graduates from MA Material Futures at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, their work has been presented at the United Nations, in negotiations on the Convention on Biological Diversity. It has been shown at the Rhode Island School of Design, Dutch Design Week, MU Artspace and the Stockholm BioHackspace among others.
Nonhuman Nonsense create near-future fictions and experiments that lie somewhere between utopia and dystopia. Working in the embryonic stages of system transformation, in the realm of social dreaming and world-making, they explore how the world could be different, but not necessarily how it should be. In this talk, they will zoom out to geological timescales, using the perspective of pink chickens, screaming plants and martian meteorites to find ways of accessing the underlying ethical and political issues of the Anthropocene – challenging the power structures that enable and aggravate the current destruction of the (non)human world – allowing other entities to exist.”
