“Representation of first-generation immigrants in media”
Start: 19.30

· ABOUT ·
Maissa was born in Germany by Tunisian immigrants. She majored in Media and Entertainment Management and wrote her dissertation about ‘Symbolic Annihilation in mass media and its effect on the identity of first-generation immigrants”. She is currently writing on a dramedy series that tells the story of Yasmin who is a born German with a traditional Algerian family. Through her eyes, we learn about 20 somethings with migration background in Berlin and the difficulties a big city brings in regards to dating, mental health, and feeling misrepresented by the western/white narrative, on top of the internal battle they are already fighting with their past and identity.
