If you were to tell your life story as a ‘hair story’, what would you say?
Join us at be’kech on Tuesday 24th October at 7pm for an evening of poetics, performances and stories. This is not your usual Black/Afro Hair styling workshop, but a workshop and discussion about what our hair means to us and our identity, led by psychologist Johanna M Lukate!
Johanna grew up in the South of Germany, the daughter of a German mother and Congolese immigrant. Through writing for KrauseLocke.de, Johanna became interested in studying the relationship between hair and diasporic identities as part of her PhD in Psychology at the University of Cambridge (UK). Come along to join a space of culture and exchange. We’ll have interactive round tables and areas to explore what our hair means to us, how it relates to our identities, and our experiences living in Europe and elsewhere.
This event is open to all – we look forward to seeing you there!
